Oscilla for macOS — READ ME FIRST
=================================

This app does not come from the Mac App Store and is not signed by
Apple, so the FIRST time you open it macOS will refuse. That is
expected and it is not a virus warning. Here is how to open it:

  1. Drag "Oscilla.app" into your Applications folder.

  2. RIGHT-CLICK on Oscilla.app (or hold the Control key and click it),
then choose "Open" from the menu that appears.

  3. A box says the developer cannot be verified.
Click the "Open" button in that box.

Note: you only get an "Open" button if you use right-click → Open.
If you simply double-click the app, the box will only offer
"Cancel" / "Move to Bin" — close it and use right-click → Open.

  4. From then on, Oscilla opens normally when you double-click it.

What you will see
-----------------
A small window titled "Oscilla Server" opens. That window is the
control panel, not the score itself.

  * Click "Open Oscilla on this computer" to open the score.

  * Other people on the same wifi can join: their browser address is
shown in the window, and there is a QR code they can scan with a
    phone or tablet.

  * Closing the window asks whether to keep the server running (so
performers stay connected) or shut it down completely.

Where your work is saved
------------------------
In a folder called "oscilla-projects" inside your home folder. It is
created for you the first time it is needed. The bundled demo scores
live inside the app itself and are read-only.

Requirements
------------
macOS 11.0 or newer. Built for Intel Macs; it also runs on
Apple Silicon Macs through Rosetta.

If it says the app is "damaged"
-------------------------------
That usually means the file was altered in transit. Ask for a fresh
copy rather than trying to repair it.
